Their story was photographed twice. First in February: a single light in a home studio, then the arcades of the Mission Inn in Riverside, still wet from the rain. Then in June, at Saint Anne's in Santa Ana, before the altar.
A Nuptial Mass celebrated by Father Randy. A visit to Our Lady of Guadalupe. Mariachi on the patio before anyone reached the reception, and golden-hour portraits in Shady Oaks Canyon. Reverence first, then celebration. Nothing was lost in the passage between them.
It began with one light in a home studio, nothing between the camera and the two of them. Then Riverside and the Mission Inn, just after the rain: wet stone, deep arcades, and reflections in the street.

A father's arm, a mother's blessing, and a veil that needed every hand in the family to carry it to the altar.

Then the Mass, unhurried and entire: the readings, the vows, the consecration, Communion. Music from the side of the sanctuary and a church full of family.

Their first moments as husband and wife were spent before Our Lady of Guadalupe. Then the kiss at the altar.

Outside, the mariachi was already playing. The bride danced in her veil before the reception ever began. Catholics know how to celebrate.

Later, south to Shady Oaks Canyon in Laguna Hills, where the light turned gold. A footbridge, a garden path, tall grass, and the two of them, finally still.

The church, the rite, the date, the families. I respond personally within two business days.
